Our Female Athlete of the Week (for last week) is Whitney Fine!!! Her coach says "Whitney is a member of the 8th grade cheer squad for boys basketball. She is dependable and is a cheerleader I can always count on. She never misses practice or games. She doesn't leave early during home games. Braylon is our Athlete of the Week. This post is a little late, as he was our Athlete of the week for our Holiday Break practices. Coach O'Kane and his staff were so impressed with this young man's leadership and work during the break, that we thought he deserved this recognition. Coach says "Braylon is a very talented young man, Braylon has worked hard off season and participated in other sports including football and track here at IMS. Over Christmas break he was leader by being one of the first one to show up to put in some extra work. We’re very proud of Braylon and look forward to seeing great things in the future." Thank you to everyone at IMS that participated in the Food Pantry Change Collection Challenge. We are going to be able to give them a check for over $537!! IMS came together and met the challenge and were able to duct tape Mrs. Chism and Mr. Carnes to the wall! Top earners for each grade level are: Woodward - 6th grade with $153.58 Meadows - 7th grade with $103.88 DeCoster/Hightower - 8th grade with $118.40! Congratulations! Peyton O'Kane is our Male Athlete of the Week. Coaches say "Peyton O'Kane is our Athlete of the Week. Coaches say It's not always easy being a coach's son, but Peyton does a great job showing up and working hard every day while putting his team first. Peyton is always spending extra time before and after practice getting in the extra work. Peyton is a 4 sport athlete at IMS, involved in Football, Wrestling, Basketball, and Track. KAY Club has been busy at IMS spreading some Christmas Cheer! They gave our amazing secretaries, Trish Coffey, Andrea Ballard, and Missy Long, a little gift to show their appreciation for all they do. KAY Club also donated $100 to the IMS Orchestra for helping with concessions. They also raffled off a wonderful K-State quilt made and donated by Tammy Reardon. They money from the raffle was donated to the Tumaini Children's Home, and KAY club added $100 for medical needs at the Children's Home. IMS is proud of the work our KAY club is doing at IMS and abroad! #the BULLDOG way

Students in Mr. Ellison's 6th Grade Intro to Robotics class have been building and programming model carnival rides this week! Groups of students picked their favorite ride from the carnival and were challenged to collaborate as a team to design the model. This project showcases their knowledge of mechanisms, dc motors, scratch programming, and basic building principles used in robotics.
