Bulldog Family, Donation Drive for Children's Mercy KAY Club will again be collecting donation items to the young patients of Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. The link below is an Amazon Wish List of the items from their site that you can shop for without leaving the comfort of your home. KAY Club has created an Amazon Wish List of the items from their site that you can shop for without leaving the comfort of your home. The items you buy will ship directly to IHS. Then KAY Club will deliver all donations to Children’s Mercy to distribute to their young patients. Or you can look at the wish list and shop for items similar to them and drop them off at IHS! Students in Mrs. Hoffmeister's Culinary class compete in "Culinary Wars", with items judged on plating, preparation, and taste! #BulldogPRIDE

Information regarding tomorrow's Basketball Jamboree - JV/C Boys will play at the MS. Varsity Girls will be at the HS gym followed by the Varsity Boys. Admission at the HS will be $1 for students and $3 for adults. No passes will be accepted. #BulldogPRIDE

Independence Boys and Girls Wrestling scrimmage starts tonight at 7:00 pm at the HS gym. Admission is cases of water or sport drinks for the program through the season. Please come out to support the wrestling program. #BulldogPRIDE

IHS is excited to announce our Teacher of the Month, Cara Devlin! Below is her nomination: I believe Cara deserves this recognition because she sets high expectations for her students while ensuring they understand their place in the AG/FFA world. During competitions, she emphasizes that winning isn't everything and appreciates the effort the kids put in. Cara works diligently to prepare her students for the challenges ahead and is genuinely passionate about the subjects she teaches. She loves to share this passion with her students. In addition to her teaching, she dedicates countless hours, both during and outside of school, to maintaining and improving the greenhouse. Cara is an outstanding teacher and a tremendous asset to Independence High School.

IHS is pleased to announce Tim Hardy as the classified staff member of the month! Tim has stepped into a position that has to be incredibly challenging, but I have not seen him get flustered or throw up his hands in exasperation yet. I appreciate his calm, cool demeanor anytime I ask him for information regarding one of our students, even if it's something he has to track down for me.

IHS student of the month - Seth Warriner 11th Grade Every day Seth has such a positive attitude and smiles at everyone who passes by him. He greets everyone as they come into the building and is often found holding the doors open for others all the time. He has come so far in his academics and has persevered through some hard times both at home and school. He is a bright shining spot in our classroom.
