USD 446 has been a proud supporter of the Independence Imagination Library since its inception in the 2005-06 school year. We, like much of the world, were saddened by the news of Dolly Parton's passing. Her Steel Magnolias co-star, Sally Field, perhaps said it best: "If there are truly angels on Earth, then we just lost one."
We recently received the following message from Sally Forbes, Imagination Library Regional Director:
"Thank you so much for your interest in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We are so grateful to see the outpouring of love and support for the legacy Dolly left behind. Due to the outpouring of support after Dolly’s passing, our website is currently experiencing extremely high traffic, which is causing some pages to fail to load properly. For those with children ages 0 to 5, please remember the Independence Imagination Library is here to support your child's literacy and love of reading. Books are absolutely FREE, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Independence chapter of this organization and the generous support of state and local agencies, such as the Independence Area Community Chest.
