Kids Crew

This federal grant provides partial funding for our Kids Crew After School Program and support for our summer school programming. These opportunities are vital to our community, helping ensure students have access to safe, enriching environments beyond the traditional school day and throughout the summer months.

Through Kids Crew, we provide a safe, structured, and engaging place for students to learn, grow, and stay connected while their parents or guardians are at work.

Students who participate in Kids Crew benefit from a wide variety of meaningful experiences, including:

  • Field trips to places such as the Fab Lab

  • Visits to the Independence Public Library

  • Exploration opportunities at the Independence Science Center and other community partners

  • Homework assistance and academic support

  • Social-emotional learning activities

  • Organizational physical activities and academic support

These programs are more than just before- and after-school care—they are an investment in our students’ academic success, social development, and overall well-being. By supporting learning during the school year and summer school, we help prevent learning loss and ensure students remain engaged and prepared for the future.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to continue seeking funding to serve our students and families in meaningful ways," says Haley Barker, Jefferson Assistant Principal and Kids Crew Director.
