Approved Software Lists

  • This information applies to ALL district computers (classrooms, offices, labs, etc.)
  • Only approved software may be installed on district machines (see building lists below).
  • Users may NOT install programs on district computers UNLESS the program is on the approved list and for the approved location/department.

All software installations now fall into two categories:
1. MUST be downloaded from a USD 446 server (do NOT download programs from other web sites and install them to your computer.) These programs MAY be installed by users.
2. If not located on a USD 446 server, the approved program must be installed by the technology department.

Approved Software Downloads:

  • CPS system (eInstruction).  The most recent version was updated on April 3, 2003.  Select SAVE and place the file on your desktop. Then double-click when the download is complete to install the program.  If you share or work with other CPS files, make sure the other users also update their CPS software.eInstruction CPS Update Notes
    • The folks at eInstruction have built in some very nice new features into their product.  If you are running an older version, please update today!  Remember, if you have existing files, they will be updated as well and cannot be used with older versions of the CPS program once they have been updated.  If you have stored these files in another location (such as your H: drive), you will want to make sure they are also in the default location on your C: drive before upgrading.  Then after upgrading, you may copy the updated files back to your H: drive.
    • Update 1: If you are currently running ANY version between and including versions 3.10 and 3.24, eInstruction suggests you update using this link (click on the link and choose "Save" and place it onto your desktop.  Then double-click it to perform the update.) This will provide the CPS upgrade to version 3.30 (the latest as of October 9, 2003). This is a very large file (47 MB) and does a complete installation of version 3.30.  IF you have a version prior to 3.14 (e.g. version 3.10 from the CD), they recommend you uninstall it prior to installing the new update.  If you perform this update, you are finished and do NOT need to do the following update. This update may also be downloaded from the eInstruction site by clicking this link, and when prompted, save it to your desktop:
      http://12.96.161.117/e/cpsdownload/update/cpsupdate.exe

    • Update 2: If you already have 3.25, you can do the service release from their downloads page.  The installation instructions are posted on the page and are the same as those for Update 1 above.  The link to the 3.25 to 3.30 page is subject to change, so be careful to read the instructions there carefully!

  • Click here two download the Stinger program. This small download should be saved to your desktop and double-clicked from there. It will scan your entire C: drive for the last 50 or so nasty viruses.
  • Click here to download the necessary USB file for use with Toshiba e310 pocket PCs.
