The Independence Middle School Technology Department
uses a Modular Technology philosophy in teaching technology to middle
school students. This program provides for exploration of technological development and its implications for the student and the world. Each activity includes extensive use of audio visual media, computers interrelated with academic disciplines, and high interest hands-on experience. These Technology learning activities employ a team
concept, with 2 students cooperating with one another to solve problems,
complete tasks and accomplish goals. The idea is to give students some
high-tech exposure to help them make smart decisions for him or herself,
in an effort to motivate them to pursue higher education and a career in
an area of interest to them. Each MTE (Modular Technology Education) Module is designed to be used by one or two students at a time and take ten full class periods to complete. Once students have completed a 10 day MTE lesson, each pair will rotate to a new module. |
