Currently, there are at least 2 networked Pentium computers in each classroom at Eisenhower Elementary School. Our operating systems are all Windows-based: Windows XP Professional Edition & Windows 98 SE.

Our computer lab consists of 23 networked Pentium computers and a full-time computer lab aide. There are numerous software titles available within the lab to reinforce skills taught in the classroom.

Eisenhower Elementary School also has an Accelerated Reading Program (AR) available through our network server. Children have the opportunity to read leveled reading books and then take a comprehension test over the book on the computer. Students are given points for each correct response. The points are then accumulated towards various prizes for the students. This program is very successful at Eisenhower.

Kindergarten:

Proper Use of Keyboard

Able to use the Enter Key
Able to use the Spacebar
Able to use Ctrl + Shift keys in Kid Pix to change stamp size

Basic Computer Operations

Able to exit a program using the X to get to desktop
Able to single and double click the mouse
Able to identify an icon and click to open a program

First Grade:

Able to use the Shift to make a capital letter
Able to use the Escape key
Able to use the Backspace key

Ability to Word Process and Draw

Able to write in Kid Pix
Able to change colors, fonts and bold in Kid Pix
Able to draw, color and erase in Kid Pix

Able to edit stamps in Kid Pix
Able to underline and italicize in Kid Pix
Able to import a graphic
