General Classroom Procedures

 1.     Every assignment should include the student’s name, date and class period:

             John Smith

             August 16, 2000

             Block 2A

2.     Every day you should bring with you:  pen/pencil, notebook paper, class notebook, and textbook (s).

3.     All assignments should be turned in at the designated due date.  If your paper is going to be late, you need to come in and see me.  Generally, late papers ARE NOT accepted.  Exceptions may be made, but arrangements must be made in advance.

4.     If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the assignment you missed.  If this means coming in after school or during seminar, then you must make arrangements to do so in advance!  (Refer to the student handbook for days allowed to make up assignments.)

5.     Copying someone else’s work is NOT allowed.  If you are caught doing so, you will receive a zero for that assignment as well as serve a detention.  You will also be written up on a behavior form.

6.     Any class disruptions will be handled in accordance with school policy.  The behavior of this classroom will be an atmosphere that will allow everyone the opportunity to learn.  If you chose to disrupt the classroom, you will suffer the appropriate consequences or punishment.  Time after school, note or phone call to parents, or work assignments will be given at the instructor’s discretion.

7.     Do not plan to use the bathroom during class time unless it is an emergency.

8.     Please remain in your seat until the bell rings.

9.     If you need to see me during seminar, you DO need to be pre-signed.

10. Students should be open to ALL ideas – even if you don’t agree, be respectful and listen with an open mind.

11. We will have many discussions in class.  Therefore, you should respect everyone’s ideas – no one should be laughed at or made fun of – it will result in being written up.

12. No one should leave the classroom without permission.  It will result in immediate referral to the office.

13. Please remember to raise your hand when you want to speak so that you will not interrupt someone else’s thoughts.  There will be times, in the heat of a lively debate, that you may be tempted to forget this important courtesy.  However, remember to respect others’ right to speak.
